Multi-storey hotel and mixed use development, Central Preston, Lancashire
The project involved the re-development of a former surface car park into a multi storey city centre hotel with mixed use retail at ground level, requiring an extensive augered piling solution to the perimeter boundary of the site.
MayZ were appointed as BO surveyor in 2008/09 to assess the likely impact of the piling solution upon the surrounding adjoining premises and awards and scaffold over-sail licenses were confirmed as required to protect the interests of the developing BO and three adjoining owners.
Consideration was given to the underpinning of one adjoining building with agreed abutment details agreed upon the remaining premises. 3 awards were agreed together with 3 scaffold over-sail licenses. Crane over-sail was deemed un-necessary due to the use of portable lifting apparatus utilised upon the scheme.
